How Do I Modify My Pc Computer To Play 1080p Hd Video?
I have a custom built PC, but it’s very old and can’t even play 720p videos. What hardware do I need to change in it so I can play full 1080p movies on my PC? Please recommend some types/model names of the parts I need to buy. I already have a full HD monitor.
Many thanks!!

If your pc is old, then chances are it has only a VGA output. Most older pc’s can at least hit 720p resolution, which is 1280×720. It’s not surprising if it can’t do 1920×1080 though.
If your pc can’t play 720p video, it’s probably because it lacks the video acceleration necessary to do it. For starters your card has to be able to handle opengl2.0 to run video at that resolution. For 1080p resolution it has to be very good.
The ATI Radeon 9000 series and the Nvidia GeForce FX 5000 series should be able to play video at 720p res. They are old cards and could be found for cheap.
If you want the best video, though, get a new video card. It will run from $130 to $400. Then it will be able to play any video pretty much up to 1080p, with a catch
the catch is that you will still need a blu-ray drive to be able to play blu-ray discs, and also that all true 1080p video is encrypted with a scrambling code called HDCP. All 1080p equipment must legally have the equipment to encrypt the video with HDCP, to prevent copying. This includes HDCP-compliant video cards. So to watch true 1080p video you will need an HDCP-compliant graphics card and those are on the expensive side.
If your monitor is 24 inches or under, don’t worry about 1080p, it is hard to see much difference between 720 and 1080 on a monitor that small.
